Society is not perfect, we all know that. And some places around the globe are even worse than others. These places are so bad that people have come together in order to have a chance at survival. These people have than formed gangs in order to better their chances at evening the odds in their favor. Unfortunately these people are only working in illegality and totally disregard the rules and regulations, society put in place for itself.
Here are some of the world’s most dangerous gangs and organizations that operate outside of the law. You might be surprised, or not, to find out that they are not always located in some of the poorest locations or countries in the world and quite the opposite.
10. Primeiro Comando Da Capital (PCC)
Is a gang found in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where they hold control over the poor part of the country’s largest city as well as its prison system. In addition to its 6,000 fee paying members, the PCC can also count on the support of over 140,000 prison inmates.
The gang is believed to have started off as a prison football team before becoming a multinational drug empire which regularly deals with the Colombian cartel and Rio’s Comando Vermelho.
The PCC brought Rio de Janeiro to a standstill in 2006 when the simultaneously attacked banks, public buildings, public transport and prisons for four days.
9. The Aryan Brotherhood
The Aryan Brotherhood is primarily a prison gang operating in the USA. Because of this, the gang doesn’t terrorize the streets of the country, but it is responsible for most prison deaths that occur. The Brotherhood was created in a prison near San Francisco in 1964 and has since spread to every other prison in the country.
The members of the gang are all white supremacists and can be identified as such by their swastika tattoos and shaved heads. They have been dubbed as the most dangerous and violent extremist group in North America by the Anti-Defamation League.
8. Barrio Azteca
Spawned in the prisons of El Paso, Texas in the 1980’s, Barrio Azteca has become a trans-national gang, operating in the US and Mexico. Starting off as a simple street gang, they have since transitioned into a full-blown paramilitary organization and are among the mot ruthless in the world. They even killed 16 teenagers at a party in Juarez, Mexico in 2010.
7. Yakuza
Considering that Yakuza accounts for more than 50% of all the Japanese gang members, then it’s not hard to say why they’re so dangerous. Each member is expected to cut all ties with their families, as a sign of loyalty to the gang. From that point onward he will be part of an organization with ties to high level politicians and business men. This gives the Yakuza, more or less, a free hand in committing murder and acts of intimidation without the fear of the Japanese authorities.
6. The Bloods and Crips
The Bloods and Crips are actually two whole separate gangs, but they go together in the public consciousness. While they aren’t the most extreme gangs on this list, they are the biggest in gang culture and antagonists to each other. They are responsible of killing an incredible large number of people. Their antagonism is one of the most notorious in history and their focus on neighborhood crime makes them very dangerous.
5. Hell’s Angels
This group would like you to believe that that they’re nothing more than a large organization of law abiding citizens who simply have a passion for motorcycles. Nothing could be further from the truth however as the Hell’s Angels are one of the largest criminal syndicate in the United States and have Chapters in 27 other countries around the world.
They are known to be involved in local drug dealing, robbery, extortion, prostitution, drug trafficking and a number of other illegal activities, which fund their bike fad and make them one of the most powerful motorcycle gangs on Earth.
4. Cosa Nostra
Starting off in New York’s Lower East Side during the early days of Italian immigration to the United States, the Cosa Nostra, is the American form of the old-style Italian Mafia families. They’re dangerous, not only because of their intimidation tactics and murderous behavior, but also because of their collaboration with other crime syndicates all over the world.
3. The Mungiki
With more than 100,000 members, Kenya’s Mungiki gang operates from Nairobi’s second largest slum and have been in open conflict with the Kenyan government since the 1990’s. They are involved in everything you would expect a crime gang to be involved into. They also sell water and electricity tot the poor at extortionate prices.
The gang however is known for their trademark beheadings. They have even interfered with elections by mounting severed heads on spikes in order to deter people from voting.
2. Los Zetas
Originally part of an elite special force within the Mexican army, Los Zetas decided to go into business for themselves and have since ignited one of the most bloodiest drug wars in history. Since the early 2000’s the gang went into conflict with the much older Sinaloa Cartel and the two have been locked into a violent conflict ever since.
This gang war has so far claimed more than 50,000 lives. Los Zetas is recognized by the US government as the most dangerous cartel in Mexico, due to their military training and violent ways they achieve their goals.
1. Mara Salvatrucha
Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13 are not just one of the most dangerous gangs in the world, but also one of the most terrifying to look at. They cover their entire bodies, including their faces in tattoos and often carry machetes in order to cut the fingers of their enemies.
They don’t shy away from killing innocents. They once set a bus full of women and children on fire and even recruit kids to their ranks. MS-13 are known for their involvement in pretty much every criminal activity known to man. With more than 10,000 members in the United States alone, they are thought as one of the most dangerous gangs on the planet, for their shear brutality alone.
