This young Australian couple holds the most beautiful & touching wedding protest for gay (LGBT) rights! The results are absolutely amazing! Australian law obliges celebrant to declare marriage as being ‘between a man and his wife’ and this young couple simply could not stand for it.
In order to support gay marriage and LGBT rights in Australia, Abbey and Mitchell Johnston, both 22, decided to show their defiance to this outdated statement that marriage is just between a man and a woman, by asking everybody at the wedding, friends and family, to cover their years as soon as the celebrant will say the official-legal meaning of marriage.
Everybody at the wedding joined the silent protest and, as you can imagine, the results were brilliantly captured in memorable pictures by wedding photographer Thomas Stewart.
When the groom-to-be herd what the bride-to-be was planning he said: “Yes! Absolutely we have to do this. You are crazy and I love it!”
The young couple considered this to be “the right thing to do” and they really wanted to “stand up and do something special”. We can definitely say that they’ve succeeded in their actions and everybody who celebrates pride and diversity should spread their message of love all over the world!
Love is something that sees no gender, ethnicity or religion, and this is why we should all support LGBT rights and follow the example of these countries where gay marriages are legal and equal to man-woman marriages.
Countries where gay marriage is legal:
- South Africa
- New Zealand
- United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland)
- The United States
- Mexico (in some states)
