It’s official, the world’s largest hotel will have 10,000 rooms and you’ll never guess where it will be built! If up until now the world’s largest hotels were located in Las Vegas, namely The Venetian and The Palazzo, which operate as a single hotel and offer 7,117 rooms, and the MGM Grand that offers 6,852 rooms, the largest hotel in the world that will provide 10,000 rooms will be built in a much more exotic destination – Mecca, Saudi Arabia!
Mecca is the capital of Islam and thousands of Muslims come here every year and the journey to Mecca is considered a thing that each Muslim has to undertake at least once in his lifetime.
The hotel will cost $3.5bn and it will look like a desert fortress and it will be completed in 2017, in Mecca’s central area, Manafia, at 1,2 miles (2.2 km) distance from Masjid al-Haram, The Holy Mosque.
Abraj Kudai will be the name of the hotel and it is designed to have 12 separate towers, 44 storeys high, 70 restaurants, rooftop helipads, royal floors and a full size convention center, the Mecca Hotel will be one of the most opulent buildings ever made.
“Due to its unparalleled size, height as well as distinguished location, exposure and architectural style, the building appears as a striking landmark with a profoundly modern multifunctional identity relating to both the Saudi locality and the Islamic universality of its expected users, “ said architect Dar Al-Handasah, quoted by The Telegraph.
