Do women deserve to be spanked? Did women ever deserved to be spanked? Why is this even a question? Today, almost no one can conceive asking or being asked this question, but this question hasn’t been asked today, but almost 60 years ago.

Yes, the 1950’s were full of discoveries, especially from a social point of view. Women were mostly considered their husband’s wives, without having an identity of their own. This was the majority’s perception. Women were considered successful if they were stay-at-home moms and wives, and kept the house clean and waited for their man with a cooked dinner.

This Daily Mirror newspaper clipping from the 1950’s decided to ask men what they think about spanking women and if women deserve to be spanked. Their responses with have caused quite a stir today, but back then, it was actually considered okay to spank your wife, but of course, only ‘if she deserved it’.

The article’s writer was given $10 for this column done with the men of Brooklyn.
