Weasel Riding Woodpecker In Flight



London based photographer and birdwatcher Martin Le-May was walking with his wife through Hornchurch Country Park one afternoon when they heard a loud noise, like a squawking.

With a glimpse of an eye he noticed what seemed to be a weird woodpecker flying his direction. He quickly grabbed his camera and blindly captured a burst of images.

Reviewing the images he quickly identified that not only he managed to capture the woodpecker but also it was an unusual stance. The woodpecker was not alone, he had a hitchhiker on his back, a weasel.

Martin quickly shared the image of the weasel riding woodpecker on social media, and it became viral, being shared even on BBC News:
