This outstanding photo shoot shows a still unknown Madonna posing in black & white in 1970’s New York City. The photos were taken between 1978 and 1979 by fashion photographer Michael McDonnell in NYC.

The seventies were all about freedom, music and fashion and people started tasting more and more of the crazy stuff that was out there. Sex and drugs were becoming a daily thing in New York City’s nightlife and this was the place where stars started emerging.

Michael McDonnell realized the huge potential New York has when it comes to creating stars and after posing only celebrities and fashion models, he started getting tired of the same old thing. This is when he decided to start shooting photos of regular people.

RELATED STORIES:

He spotted a 20-year-old girl sitting on a stool in the hallway of his building and he immediately saw something special in her. Boy, oh boy, was he right – that was Madonna he was looking at, before anyone ever knew who she was.

She was dressed in black with ripped jeans and frizzy hair which immediately caught the attention of Michael McDonnell. He told her that he was a photographer and that he wanted to take her picture.
