Train Track Goes Through Apartment Block In China
This train track goes directly through the middle of an apartment block in China. The light railway track has been built in the Chinese city of Chongqing and it goes through a hole made in a residential 19-storey apartment block.
The city and the entire area surrounding it have a total population of 49 million, ‘squeezed in’ 31,000 square miles. This makes urban planners, construction workers and architects to come up with the craziest solutions ever in order to barely make things work.
Due to the severe space crisis, the Liziba train station was built between the 5th and 9th floor of this apartment building. Can you imagine living in this building? It could be quite a ride (pun intended!).
Constructors say that despite the Liziba station being inside the building, residents are not bothered by any disturbing sounds. The noises made by the train passing through the building have been muffled with specially designed equipment and sound levels rarely surpass the noises made by a dishwasher.
While all of this is really hard to believe to any other person living outside China, several architectural and engineering ‘marvels’ have made the country famous worldwide.

‘Our city is very heavily built upon and that can make finding room for roads and railway lines a real challenge,’ says a city transport spokesman.
Chongqing is one of the most important port cities located along the banks of the Yangtze river, and its economic growth has lead to an increase in the area’s population.
