This cozy Japanese bed table is all you need to get you through the winter, without ever having to get out of bed when it’s cold outside. The Japanese bed table is called kotatsu and it dates back to the 14th century.
The kotatsu serves both as a space heater for cold weather and as a bed where you can get a very pleasant and relaxing nap during the day. The design consists of a heating source underneath the table (round or square) with a blanket wrapped around the table’s margins, which helps at keeping in the heat.
It works as a cocoon for your entire body, where you can read, eat, watch TV and even have guests over. A traditional kotatsu has a table and the blanket around it, but being in the 21st century, designers decided to add a little twist to it.
This cozy Japanese bed table is called a oki-gotatsu and can serve as a bed, table and couch, all at the same time, offering a multi-functional space straight in your living room.
A kotatsu is also very energy efficient, considering that it only consumes just about half the energy needed to run an air conditioner in your home, and trust us, the results will not be the same.
