These shocking photos of young children smoking gathered in one eye-opening campaign to raise awareness on child smoking all over the world. Although in Western countries strict laws against smoking have already been implemented, in developing countries the number of smoking children is on the rise.
The photo series “Smoking Kids” created by conceptual photographer Frieke Janssens is very shocking and disturbing and it’s meant to make people take action all over the world, whenever they see children smoking.
She was inspired and motivated to create “Smoking Kids”, the series of shocking photos of young children smoking, after seeing a Youtube video of a 2-year-old Indonesian toddler who was smoking cigarettes.
“A YouTube video of a two-year-old Indonesian nicotine toddler inspired me to create this series, “Smoking Kids”. The video highlighted the cultural differences between the east and west, and questioned notions of smoking being a mainly adult activity.” she says.
The “Smoking Kids” photo series was done by dressing up children between the ages of 4 to 9 and all the cigarettes are made out of cheese, so no child was exposed to harmful smoke.
