Scandalous Secret Diary Found In A Castle’s Floorboards
This scandalous secret diary was found in a castle’s floorboards and after reading it, it kind of makes you wonder what else happened in this chateau throughout the building’s long history.
The new owners of the Picomtal Chateau, like almost all new homeowners, decided to do some renovations with this old beaten down place. Wouldn’t you? They started by renovating the parquet in their upstairs rooms and this is where the incredible discovery was made.
Beneath the floorboards, on their hidden side, long messages written with a pencil could be found. Hidden away from everybody’s eyes, a secret diary had been lying around in this castle for over 100 years.
The ‘diary entries’ were written from 1880 until 1881 by a certain Joachim Martin. He was the carpenter.
The shocking part about this secret diary is one episode that talks about infanticide. This episode appears to be haunting Joachim Martin even 12 years after it took place.
“In 1868 I was passing at midnight before the doorway of a stable. I heard groans. It was the mistress of one of my old friends and she was giving birth….Over time the woman gave birth to six children… four of which are buried in the stable… it was not their mother who killed them, but her lover … This (criminal) is now trying to screw up my marriage. All I have to do is say one word and point my finger at the stables, and they’d all be in prison. But I won’t. He’s my old childhood friend. And his mother is my father’s mistress.”
