Here are some former lab-test animals put into a photoshoot to get them adopted. When Italian charity La Collina dei Conigli rescued a number of rabbits, rats, mice and guinea pigs, they decided to find them some loving homes and get them adopted. To do so, and do it successfully, not to mention, having some fun in the process, they made a photoshoot with the furry test subjects; depicting scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
Rachele Totaro was the photographer in charge of the “re-imagining”. The photoshoot took place at the rescue center in Monza, near Milan in September, 2014. Since then many of the animals were adopted.
“Mice were the most cooperative models, while guinea pigs were the laziest (they stayed still only with food present). Rats were the most attractive, and rabbits… were the most disapproving. Some of the pictures were used in the charity’s 2015 calendar, which helps raise funds for hundreds and hundreds of rescued animal,” recounted Rachele
The La Collina dei Conigli charity has been operating for some 10 years now and most of animals they rescue are lab-test animals which otherwise would have been euthanized at the end of the study they were involved in. Their aim is to find them a loving human family. So far, most animals have found home, but some are still looking for one.
