Our cats and dogs have unique personalities, exactly like we humans have. We are all unique in a sense and so are our pets. Now it is true that they tend to mimic us, and cats and dogs tend to look like and act as their owners. But lets be honest since we do the same when it comes to acting like our parents, even if we like to admit it or not.

Anyway, 22-year-old photographer Rob Bahou started shooting a series of portraits focused on the two animals we love best, but incidentally they don’t like each other that much; cats and dogs. This project entitled “Animal Soul” is aimed at capturing the exact nature of our furry friends without focusing on breed, behavior or funny moments that might happen. Just how they are, pure and simple.

After seeing these photos you can be sure that cats and dogs have personalities of their own, but this extends far beyond just our favorite pets. Even if they don’t speak, we can see just by looking at them that each is different and unique. Body language and facial expressions make up more than 80% of what is being transmitted anyway, so why shouldn’t it be applied to animals as well.

Luckily for us, but not so much for animals is general is the fact that they can’t speak. We wonder how the world would look like if they could. Well, anyway, maybe these photos may make people realize that they have feelings too and aren’t just there for us to take advantage.

We might be mistaken, but some of those cats up there look really vicious. It must really be true then, that cats are really out to get us and that nothing we do or whatever we might believe, they still think that they are better than us. And maybe they’re right too.
