Sankt Petersburg-based photographer Alexander Petrosyan manged to capture Russia and its people in the most sincere circumstances possible. He likes to take unscripted snapshots of his surroundings, and this is what gives his photos a cutting edge, as opposed to many other ‘photos of Russians on the Internet’.
Sankt Petersburg is Russia’s second largest city, after Moscow, the country’s capital, so you can imagine that Alexander Petrosyan had a lot of material to work with. With each passing day, the talented photographer adds new photographs to his vast collection.

He started taking photos when he was only 12, when he received his first camera as a birthday present. In 2000, he decided to turn pro and the results are amazing. Focused on capturing the best St. Petersburg has to offer, his photos reveal that the city has almost no secrets Alexander doesn’t already know.
“This is my world,” says Alexander, who never leaves his home without a backup battery for his photo camera.

“Perception depends on many different factors,” the Russian photographer added. “But if the picture is taken with a certain energy, the viewer will feel it, regardless of geography and culture.”
