This Incredible Hotel Will Be Built In The Arctic Circle
This incredible hotel will be built in the Arctic Circle and it will be one of the most amazing places on Earth. If you weren’t planning a trip to the Arctic until now, this hotel may have just changed your mind.
Award-winning Norwegian architects Snøhetta have been assigned to bring this incredible hotel to life. Together with Asplan Viak and Skanska and the team at Arctic Adventures of Norway, they gave birth to ‘Svart’, which means black in Norwegian.
The hotel’s supporting structure will be built from weather resistant wooden poles placed below the surface of the fjord.
“This will be the world’s most environmentally friendly hotel” explains lead architect Zenul Khan.

Not only will this incredible hotel be eco-friendly, reducing its own energy consumption by 85% in comparison with a standard hotel of the same size, but it will also be equipped with facilities to produce energy, all in the efforts to leave a minimum carbon footprint on the Arctic Circle.
“Building in such a precious environment comes with some clear obligations in terms of preserving the natural beauty and the fauna and flora of the site. It was important for us to design a sustainable building that will leave a minimal environmental footprint on this beautiful Northern nature.
Building an energy positive and low-impact hotel is an essential factor to create a sustainable tourist destination respecting the unique features of the plot; the rare plant species, the clean waters and the blue ice of the Svartisen glacier,” says Founding Partner at Snøhetta, Kjetil Trædal Thorsen.
Construction has already begun and if everything goes as planned, the hotel will open in 2021.
