Greece Just Started An Online Crowdfunding Campaign

Greece just started an online crowdfunding campaign for €1,600,000,000! Will you help them out? The campaign is called ‘Greek Bailout Fund’ and it was created by Thom Feeney on the crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo, in order to help Greece’s struggling economy in these harsh times.

Since protests are gathering tens of thousands of people all over Greece these days, in order to stop the new austerity measures that will most likely be implemented in the country, forced by the other European Union member states, somebody decided to help the Greeks out.

Although it may seem like a very ambitious goal, the fact that this campaign has to gather €1,600,000,000 (or $1,789,856,000.00) in just 7 days didn’t seem to scare the initiator or the first 2,000 backers that already raised approximately $40,000 in just a little over an hour.

“No. I can understand why people might take it as a joke, but Crowdfunding can really help because it’s just a case of getting on and doing it. I was fed up of the Greek crisis going round in circles, while politicians are dithering, this is affecting real people. While all the posturing is going on, then it’s easy for the politicians to forget that. I just thought, sod it, I’ll have a crack”, explains Thom Feeney on the campaign page.

So, if this amazing solidarity campaign proves to be a success, wouldn’t you like to think of yourself as somebody who contributed to a little piece of history in the making?

Don’t forget, for just €3 (or $3,36) you will receive a postcard with Greece’s Prime-Minister Alex Tsipras! It may seem like a joke, but trust us, it’s not.

“I’ve put in for a bottle of Ouzo, which is just €10 – if 1 in 3 Europeans did the same, we’d get to the target!”, Thom Feeney concluded.
