German student chose to live on trains rather than paying rent and the results are incredible in every single way imaginable. Leonie Müller is a millennial student that decided to take up on a new and very different lifestyle after and argument with her landlord.
Leonie gave up her apartment this spring and she instantly decided that she doesn’t want to live anywhere anymore, as she told the Washington Post: “I instantly decided I didn’t want to live there anymore — and then I realized: Actually, I didn’t want to live anywhere anymore.”
Being a very creative and proactive person, she bought a train subscription that allows her to board on any train in Germany for a full month. You could say that Leonie is actually living life on the fast lane, on trains that travel with up to 190 mph (305 km/h).
After a few time spent on trains, showering, sleeping and doing her college homework and projects, she started feeling right at home. The train became her reign. “I really feel at home on trains, and can visit so many more friends and cities. It’s like being on vacation all the time,” Leonie Müller said.
Although it may seem like a very risky lifestyle, the 23-year-old has absolutely no regrets about her choice of living and she feels like she’s always on vacation, visiting her family, friends and boyfriend all the time.
Leonie Müller also has a financial benefit out of her new and exciting living arrangement, paying just about $380 a month for her train subscription, whereas she was paying $450 for her apartment.
The really incredible thing about Leonie is that she’s also trying to make a change with this living experiment and her new found way of challenging societal stereotypes and beliefs.
“I want to inspire people to question their habits and the things they consider to be normal. There are always more opportunities than one thinks there are. The next adventure is waiting just around the corner — provided that you want to find it,” she added.
Whenever something so extreme, so out of the ordinary comes along, you will always find people that will tell you that this is not okay and that you should rethink your ways, but Leonie proudly wants to prove everybody wrong by documenting her entire lifestyle on her blog and on Facebook.
“Most of my friends really like the idea, although some consider it to be quite adventurous. Others, however, have reacted more negatively: They feel offended by the fact that I question the ordinary way of life and living,” she concluded.
