The Story Behind this Mug Shot of Frank Sinatra
Here’s Frank Sinatra back in 1938 when he was only 23 years old. In that year alone, he was arrested twice for what, at the time were called “sex crimes.” These mug shots were from back then. In November 1938, he was arrested for seduction, and then, in December, on charges of adultery. And with that face, can you really blame him? Nevertheless, the two charges were later dropped. The woman that filed the charges was a former girlfriend of Sinatra’s that got into a fight with his then-fiancée Nancy Barbato.
The woman alleged that Sinatra seduced her by promising he will marry her. But since he and Nancy weren’t yet married at the time, the accusations didn’t hold in court. Now, if it is true or not, and Sinatra did have some relations with that woman, we don’t know. Whatever the case may be, Nancy did marry him in the end and they stayed married until 1951. She either didn’t believe the allegations, or she simply didn’t care, so, why should we?
Another fun fact about Sinatra, and one that you can see in the mug shots, is his big scar on the left side of his face, going from the corner of his mouth down to the jaw. When he was born, the doctor had to use a pair of forceps, but in doing so, it left him with that scar and a cauliflower ear. Moreover, he was presumed dead, and the doctor went on carrying for his mother. Luckily, his grandmother picked him up and put him under some cold water, and that’s when he started to cry for the first time.
