These creative artworks painted on old library books just prove to show us that every book is timeless and you can always find a new use for it. These paintings cover hundreds and hundreds of old discarded books and they’re impressive in every single way imaginable.
Mike Stilkey, a painter and illustrator, has decided to turn old library books into his very own canvas. Thousands of old books are discarded daily, and if it weren’t for people like Mike Stilkey, they would wind up, most probably, as toilet paper.
He manages to bring these old books back to life and turns them into creative artworks with the use of paint and talent. Imagination and originality also play a huge role here.
Mike likes to stack up hundreds of old discarded library books and then he starts painting impressive murals on their spines. As the artwork grow bigger in size, he simply adds a few more books and voila! A giant creative murals suddenly popped out!
Since another one of his passions is skateboarding, he tries to bring that out as much as possible into his paintings. He loves graffiti, street art and stencils, and a large part of his inspiration comes from here.
By now, Mike has already ‘repurposed’ thousands of discarded library books, managing to give them a second shot at being admired. Only this time, from a totally different perspective.
