Artist Rómulo Celdrán creates works of art by oversizing everyday objects. From a burnt match to a soda cap and from a spilt paint can to a hot-water bottle, Mr. Romulo tries to make us see things from a totally different perspective. Most of his works of art are made out of Polychrome foam board, aluminum and epoxy resin and remind us of how we used to see things before we grew up.
He’s been doing these pieces since 2013 and are part of the “Macro” series. Originally a painter and drawer Rómulo Celdrán had made other collections more or less similar to the Macro series. He seems to tackle the subject of everyday objects and focusing the attention on them.
Nevertheless, by oversizing these objects he makes us revert to our childish times when we were used to see things through a totally different perspective.
‘I believe there is something magic in the world of scales. There is a kind of emotional memory that invites us to feel the relationship with the Macro objects as if it were a game’ – Rómulo Celdrán
