Amputee girl adopts 3-legged kitten and they instantly become best friends – That’s right! It sounds like the beginning of a beautiful fairy tale, but fortunately for humanity, this is a real life story, and a very special one too.
Little Scarlette Tipton, age 2, had her left arm amputated because of cancer when she was only 10 months old so her parents decided to get her a companion. This is how they found Doc, a rescue cat, who had her right paw amputated after a car accident.
“We wanted a little kitten to have [Scarlette] grow up with, so she has something that’s just like her,” says mom Simone Tipton. “She did notice that Doc had staples on her side and said ‘owies’. I let her know that she had owies just like her, and she placed her hand on her side and just nodded. She recognizes that the cat has similar struggles as she does,” she added.
