280 Male Students Throw Surprise Birthday Party For The Only Girl In Their Unit
280 male students in uniform throw a surprise birthday party for the only girl in their unit and the Internet instantly goes crazy! How could it not? We can only imagine the waves of emotions this girl surfed through when seeing all of her classmates wishing her ‘Happy Birthday’.
Wu Xun is the only female student majoring in marine engineering at Shanghai‘s Merchant Marine College. This being a very well-know fact throughout her classmates, they decided to give her the surprise of a lifetime.
The only girl attending this college is 169 cm tall (aka 5′ 5″), she has long black hair, and as you can imagine, absolutely every student knows who she is. Given the college’s long tradition of accepting only male students, Wu Xun is a true pioneer in her field, proving that women can break any borders.
When applying to college, Wu said to herself “if a male student can major in a professional subject, so can female students,” so she decided to take a shot and succeeded. The college dropped it’s male-only policy in 2015, but it kept its military-style management.
All students are required to wear the same uniform, to wake up early in the morning and do their daily exercise routine, chant military songs and study at night. These are just some of the strict requirements for attending Shanghai’s Merchant Marine College.
Strict regulations didn’t scare Wu Xun away and with her strong personality and determination, she managed to impress her classmates and instructors. Her birthday was on May 13 and everybody wanted to take part in her surprise celebration. She cut the cake she received as a present in 8 pieces and gave each class a slice.
Weibo (China‘s national social network) users fell in love with this story and turned it into a real viral phenomena. Not everybody was supportive in their comments, but then again, you can’t please everybody all the time.
“I think why those male students bothered to hold a birthday party for her was that she’s beautiful. If she were ugly, no one would show interest in her,” one Weibo user wrote.
“I don’t think she has the gut to skip classes as the only female student because everybody would notice her absence!” another one added.
