100-Year-Old Church Gets Transformed Into a Skate Park With Graffiti Walls
This 100-year-old Spanish church is located in Ilanera and it was transformed into a skate park by La Iglesia Skate. The church is now called Kaos Temple and street artist Okuda San Miguel redesigned its walls with colorful graffiti.
Red Bull is the big brand behind the project, who helped in its transformation from church to skate park, putting in half pipes and painting over the walls with bright and colorful isometric graffiti.
“His iconic artistic piece Kaos Star represents a colorful and isometric rose of the winds that tries to tell us that it does not matter were you are, or what you are doing, what matters are your own goals,” says Verkami.
Some artists go all the way! This is definitely the case for the people who transformed a church into a dynamic skate park. Adapting to new changes is one of the best parts of living in a fast-paced world.
We can re-purpose and rethink everything that has been done in the past, by bringing it into the modern era and without losing its unique historic charm. Instead of being left abandoned, we would love to see more initiatives like this with other forgotten places around the globe.
