Nostalgic Look Back At The Bedrooms Of 90s Teenagers
This nostalgic look back at the bedrooms of 90s teenagers really takes us back. It takes us back to our own teenage years where everything seemed possible and everything we did had a soundtrack to it. The 90’s were like living in a movie, and no one can ever take that away from us. It’s also true that no one can ever give us back that feeling.
The series ‘In My Room: Teenagers in Their Bedrooms’ was created by Adrienne Salinger over a 2 year period during the 90s. She wanted to portray young adolescents in their most private place – their room. Each teen has his own little Universe bottled up in his bedroom. It’s a teenager‘s place of refuge and comfort.
The bedroom‘s walls were one of the few places where teenagers could express themselves freely. Posters with their favorite artists were right at home in an adolescent’s ‘Wall of Fame’ and motivational quotes were also a very popular choice. From superhero posters, cassette recorders to high school trophies, anything was possible in a 90s teenager bedroom.
Unlike today, when the ‘less is more’ current is taking over the world, 90’s bedrooms were a crowded place. Signs of a crowded mind perhaps? We’ll never know for sure, but the only thing that is certain is that the 90s were one of the greatest decades for teenagers. This may be a subjective point of view, but still, the 90s were a time of transition where the world seemed to rediscover itself in a never before seen (until then) way.
How does your bedroom look like now? How is your kid’s room today different than your teenage room?
