Men’s Fashion Ads in Playboy from the 1960s and 1970s
Even if you believe it or not, some people bought the Playboy magazine for the articles. With that being said, here are some ads from that magazine which show men’s fashion from the mid-1960s to the 70s. And this comes as no surprise since Playboy had seen its greatest circulation during that period, with over 5 million monthly readers.
So, what do you guys think about the fashion during those times? Well, whatever your opinion on it may be, you have to remember that it always changes, and regardless of how it looks to you today, it always comes around in a somewhat altered form. So, even if you find the 1970s fashion as, let’s say, funny or awkward, it can be that in a few years you’ll start to see stars wearing something similar to what we see here, and soon enough everyone will start wearing it.
For example, women’s high waisted jeans were a fad during the 80s. But then something else took over, making these jeans look weird. And now, some 30 years later, they’re back and they start looking cool again. Fashion is funny like that and is morphs and changes like everything else in the world.
